POSSE
Posse is an intriguing story about the search and ultimate treatment of a young, arrogant hit-and-run driver from a very privileged family.
A mother and her two young children go grocery shopping. The boy, age six, wanders around the car while his mother retrieves his younger sister. Fascinated by the sound of squealing tires, the boy explores, straying only a few feet from the safety of the vehicle. As it turns out, those few feet put him in the path of a joy rider. He is killed instantly. The driver stops momentarily, then makes a mad dash out of the parking lot in the opposite direction.
The slain boy’s father is part of a circle of four friends who have known each other most of their lives. One of them is the deceased boy’s godfather. Determined to find out who the driver was, the other three friends investigate. Eventually, they turn what they find over to the police. In spite of the lead detective’s best efforts, the police are unable to arrest the driver.
Enraged, the posse reconvenes to take matters into its own hands. The book invites the reader to join them as they pursue their revenge. The surprising and emotionally tense ending of the book is something special for the reader to experience.
