After being brought up to the Texas Rangers from the minor leagues midway through the season, Corey Wisler was hit with a thrown bat. It ended his spectacularly successful first year in the Major Leagues.

Now he was anxious to ply his trade once more. Would he still have his wizardry? Would he be instrumental in helping his team to and through the World Series?

Corey’s success on the mound was offset by the challenges of life when the game wasn’t being played: racial strife in the locker room; embezzlement involving his nonprofit foundation; and physical problems that threatened to derail his career.
